Speaker’s bio:

Edward Peghin is a rare hybrid—an accomplished Canadian lawyer with over 30 years of legal experience, and an award-nominated producer and director in film and television. With a career that moves seamlessly between boardrooms and broadcast studios, Edward brings a distinctive legal and creative lens to the business of media.

As Managing Lawyer at Pace Law Firm in Toronto, Edward leads both the Corporate/Commercial and Entertainment & Media law departments. His legal practice focuses on cross-border transactions, intellectual property, production finance, and strategic advisory for high-growth companies in the media, tech, and entertainment sectors. He advises clients on structuring complex deals, securing financing, navigating regulatory frameworks, and protecting creative assets in an increasingly global and digitized economy.

On the creative side, Edward was Co-Executive Producer and Series Director of the Emmy-nominated Chop Cut Rebuild, a 12-season automotive documentary series that aired across the US, Canada, and internationally. He has produced and directed feature films, documentaries, animation, and branded content for major platforms and studios. His projects have received accolades including an Emmy nomination.

Edward’s cross-disciplinary career has made him a sought-after voice on the evolving relationship between media, law, and finance. Whether negotiating rights for a co-production, assessing IP value in a sale, or guiding cross-border distribution deals, Edward brings practical insight, legal rigour, and industry fluency to every conversation.
